'Sihing' Frank

Frank Hanley is a martial artist, author, and teacher of Kung Fu, Taijiquan and multiple Qigong styles and practices. 'Sihing’* Frank has been practicing martial and energy arts for over thirty years. A big fan of Bruce Lee and the Green Hornet “Kato” character, ‘Sihing’ Frank has a life-long interest in martial arts… especially Kung Fu.

He started training at the “Shaolin Kung Fu School” in Somerville, NJ.  Several years later, he began learning qigong and Hung Ga style kung fu as a member of Yee’s Hung Ga Kung Fu Association.  In 2013, Frank moved to Maryland and began training the Hung Ga and Wing Chun styles of kung fu with Sifu John Jurewicz at Hung Wing Kung Fu in Wilmington, DE.

*Sihing (shi-xiong) (pronounced "see hing"), is the Chinese word for "teacher senior brother."

In 2019, Frank was awarded Qigong Instructor Certification by the National Qigong Association (NQA). Frank serves as a member of the NQA Event Committee. He was a featured speaker at the 2018 NQA Annual Conference, and a guest speaker on the monthly NQA "QiTalks" program.

Frank suffers with FSHD, a form of muscular Dystrophy. In 2020, Frank organized and founded the FSHD Society South Carolina Chapter which was based in Myrtle Beach.  As a recognized Volunteer Leader, Frank has organized annual fundraising events and has raise thousands of dollars for research and clinical studies.

Frank helped organize and frequently hosts the "Feeling Fit with FSHD" Wellness Hour presented by the FSHD Society. This program 'airs' twice a month via Zoom and recordings are available on the FSHD Society's YouTube channel.

Frank created and hosts the "FSHD Wellness Channel" Facebook group. In this group, Frank hosts weekly LIVE exercise workshops to share a variety of exercises with others that suffer with FSHD.

Frank practices qigong and kung fu daily.  He feels that this practice helps him to physically and mentally fight back against the effects of FSHD.

He firmly believes that exercise and daily practice should be part of everyone’s lifestyle.
